She completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and attended the
David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine for both her general psychiatry residency and
child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship. Prior to becoming coach, Dr. Asamoah worked in various
clinical settings. She was an assistant professor at The University of New Mexico School of
Medicine and the Texas A&M School of Medicine. She practiced in inpatient psychiatric
settings, residential treatment settings, community-based outpatient clinics and most recently, in
solo private practice. She received her initial leadership coach certification through Coach
Approach Ministries. She followed up with additional training in the Brain=Body program
focusing on embodied awareness and Inspiring Leadership Through Emotional Intelligence.
As a psychiatrist, Dr. Asamoah spent 2 decades working with children and teens dealing with
psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. In her
private coaching practice, Dr. Asamoah helps women physicians and other professionals turn the
navigate career transitions and develop their leadership skills. Dr. Asamoah also coaches and
teaches with the American Medical Women’s Association, Physician Coaching Alliance and
StrongLead consulting firm. She has spoken nationally and written on coaching and mental
health related topics. Dr. Asamoah has served on various regional and national boards and
committees.
When Dr. Asamoah isn’t working with her patients and clients, she enjoys spending time with
her husband, 2 daughters and pet bunny, Mylo.
